The incident occurred in the town of Villenoy, located in Seine-et-Marne, and raised significant concern due to the apparent connection with the world of digital assets.
The circumstances of the attack
According to initial reports from the authorities, the aggression occurred around 8:30 PM. An individual, disguised as a delivery person, presented himself at the couple’s home with a box and a vest. As soon as the gate was opened by Sébastien Borget’s wife, a group of five masked accomplices entered the courtyard. They attempted to force the victim into a vehicle, a Citroën C3. This attempt was halted thanks to the intervention of neighbors alerted by the victim’s screams.
The arrests and search issuance
The scene quickly caught the attention of law enforcement, who responded by deploying police teams. Two of the assailants were apprehended after fleeing in a passenger transport vehicle. The apprehended individuals, Mateo V. and Walid H., both under 18 years old and residents of Pantin, were placed in police custody. They were found in possession of a bag containing a fake handgun, zip ties, and masks, which reinforced the assumption of a well-organized criminal operation.
An increase in crimes related to cryptocurrencies

Authorities’ responses and measures to be taken
In light of the increasing prevalence of crimes related to digital assets, French authorities, through the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, announced the implementation of preventive measures. During Paris Blockchain Week 2026, Jean-Didier Berger revealed the development of a platform aimed at preventing these malicious acts. This initiative reflects the growing awareness of the dangers associated with cryptocurrencies and their criminal exploitation.
The impact of cryptocurrencies on society
