The Toulouse-based start-up Skyted has developed an innovative headset, the Skyted 320, which allows users to make phone calls in noisy environments such as trains and airplanes, while respecting the privacy of surrounding individuals. With the integration of artificial intelligence into the design of this headset, it becomes possible to communicate without being heard by other passengers, thus ensuring discreet and comfortable conversations.
A technological breakthrough for noisy environments
The Skyted 320 headset has been specifically designed to meet the communication needs of users in contexts where background noise is an issue. Equipped with a hyper-directional microphone, this headset captures the user’s voice with unmatched precision while attenuating surrounding sounds. Thus, even in places like trains, airplanes, or even restaurants, it becomes possible to converse quietly without creating noise.
A solution for traveling professionals
This device is particularly aimed at business leaders and frequent traveling professionals who need to make phone calls in complete confidentiality. By minimizing the risks of incivility, the Skyted 320 helps maintain the calm environment of trains and airplanes while ensuring a high level of communication. Users can focus on their discussions without fearing they will disturb their neighbors, thereby transforming the experience of working on the move.
A development with significant societal impact
Beyond offices and public spaces, the headset also aims to facilitate the lives of people suffering from voice disorders. According to estimates, around 300 million people worldwide face challenges related to their ability to speak clearly. Thanks to the amplification of the voice provided by the Skyted 320, these users can finally participate in phone conversations without feeling limited by their vocal disabilities.
Forecasts and successful tests
The headset has already been successfully tested on train lines in various environments, confirming its effectiveness. Its commercialization begins in March, with a price of around 240 euros. In addition, the headset has a battery life of eight hours, making it ideal for long journeys.
An innovative application under development
Alongside this headset, Skyted is working on an application named TrainWays, in partnership with SNCF. This application aims to provide users with real-time information on areas with sufficient Internet connectivity to make calls. Through an interactive map, users will be able to identify the best sections to make their calls, especially during train journeys.
Skyted’s promise with the Skyted 320 and the TrainWays application is to transform not only how business travel is managed but also to address broader social needs. Future users can expect a significant enhancement of their communication experience while traveling.
