The Algorand Foundation recently announced a major initiative aimed at strengthening the security of its blockchain against quantum attacks, with an ambitious roadmap planned by the end of 2027. Algorand’s roadmap is carefully planned to address each layer of its network. The initiative covers not only user wallets and developer tools but also the consensus mechanisms of the blockchain. According to the roadmap, native accounts resistant to quantum threats will be integrated into the protocol with an update scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. This will allow users to create them directly through the Pera wallet, ensuring that all software development kits (SDKs) will support this new format. The 2026 update will also introduce staking capabilities from accounts that are resistant to quantum attacks.
